Old Perithia, also known as the ghost village, has in the later years become one of the most popular places to visit in Corfu. It was built in the 14th century in the Pantokrator mountainsides, well-protected from the pirate attacks, it was at the time buzzing with life and wealth, as the inhabitants dealt mainly with farming lands and livestock.
With the rise of tourism, the locals began to leave the mountain, headed for the more popular coastal resorts, until the village was fully abandoned. It is only in the later years that the village has seen a slight revival, visited by those wishing to discover the other sides of Corfu.
The views from Old Perithia are stunning, and it is a favoured spot for hikers and painters who appreciate its natural beauty. Today you will find some restaurants serving local dishes.

We were recommended the Old Perithia and it was one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. It was a time travel back in time and we also enjoyed an authentic local food. Very polite and flexible driver !
